An amazing project by Chilean architects Claudio Magrini and Emilio Marin demonstrates how combining art and nature can be used for the benefit of the environment. The project was created for a competition by the Chilian government, to create an art installation along a highway route to Santiago.
Together with Rene Mendoza, the architects created a winning project of artificial trees that would be an 'ecological bridge' to migrating birds. As route is a popular one for migrating birds, the architects came up with this project in an attempt to make the highway a little less traumatizing for the birds. The trees have little bird houses and other useful accessories to make it more welcoming for birds. At the moment, an analysis is underway to see if this project is improving bird life in the area.
