All fifty trees in the Parkstraat in Arnhem have two fluorescent pink, knitted crosses. The artists Germa Huijbers and Caroline Evers Agelink created hundreds of these crosses with 35 residents as part of the project Art for a coffee.
The trees, like many other trees in Spijkerkwartier must be cut, because the drain system of the neighbourhood has to undergo maintenance. This to the dissatisfaction of the neighborhood. "By adding these crosses we wanted to keep the discussion alive about the destiny of these trees," said Germa Huijbers.
